Power algebras: clones and relations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Every operation or relation on a base set A can be "lifted" to the power set P ( A ) . In this paper clones of operations and corresponding invariant relations are studied under this process of lifting (e.g. the clone generated by all lifted operations of a clone is characterized internally by 6-closure (Thm. 2.2) and externally by special invariant relations (Thm. 2.4, 3.3)). Generalizations to multifunctions are mentioned.

Rosenberg’s Characterization of Maximal Clones
We will give a proof of I. G. Rosenberg’s characterization of maximal clones, first published in [11]. The theorem lists six types of relations on a finite set such that a clone over this set is maximal if and only if it contains just the functions preserving one of the relations of the list. In Universal Algebra, this translates immediately into a characterization of the finite preprimal algeb...
متن کاملGreen's-Like Relations on Algebras and Varieties
There are five equivalence relations known as Green’s relations definable on any semigroup or monoid, that is, on any algebra with a binary operation which is associative. In this paper, we examine whether Green’s relations can be defined on algebras of any type τ . Some sort of superassociativity is needed for such definitions to work, and we consider algebras which are clones of terms of type...
متن کاملClones of Algebras with Parallelogram Terms
We describe a manageable set of relations that generates the finitary relational clone of an algebra with a parallelogram term. This result applies to any algebra with a Maltsev term and to any algebra with a near unanimity term. One consequence of the main result is that on any finite set and for any finite k there are only finitely many clones of algebras with a k-ary parallelogram term which...
متن کاملOn Some Clones of Compatible Operations
In [5], new results on affine complete algebras are obtained using the formalism of generalized metric spaces introduced by Jawhari, Misane and Pouzet [3]. In this paper we focus our attention to the clones of compatible operations obtained by the mean of nonexpansive functions defined on a generalized metric space. We hence prove new results on relations and primal algebras. We apply the notio...
